AMICALOLA FALLS - RIVERFRONT RENTAL CABIN ELLIJAY GEORGIA MOUNTAINS
At 729 feet high spectacular Amicalola Falls is the highest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi in the eastern United States. A brisk climb up the paved trail and stairs to the falls will reward you with a breathtaking close up view of Amicalola Falls and the mountain vistas. The name Amicalola is derived from the Cherokee word for tumbling waters.
Amicalola Falls State Park is located in between Dahlonega and Ellijay, just a short drive from the apple orchards in Ellijay.
In addition to hiking, picnicing and viewing the Amicalola Falls, Amicalola Falls State Park offers and highlights interpretive programs where you can experience the wildlife of the North Georgia Mountains up close.
Amicalola Falls State Park trail system is the soutern terminus of the Appalachian Trail with the access trail to Springer Mountain beginning located just a few steps behind the visitors center. In February and March, you are apt to see thru hikers beginning their initial approach to the Appalachina Trail. Later in the year, you may be very lucky enough to greet thru hikers who have completed the Appalachian Trail who started in Maine.
