Take an exciting day trip with the family to the Chattahoochee National Fish Hatchery located off Highway 60 between Morganton and Dahlonega. The Chattahoochee National Fish Hatchery, operated by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, raises rainbow trout to stock the tailwaters, streams, and lakes of the Georgia Mountains, the neighboring states of Tennessee, North Carolina, Alabama, South Carolina and the Cherokee Reservation. Tour the trout hatchery and visitor center, fish Rock Creek, go for a hike, or have a picnic. The fish hatchery holds annual fishing derbies for kids and seniors. While visiting the Chattahoochee National Fish Hatchery you can plan to visit additional mountain attractions in the area, including Deep Hole and Cooper Creek Recreation Areas. Cooper Creek Scenic Area features hiking trails and fishing more tributaries of Cooper Creek.
Visit the Benton MacKaye Trail and the Swinging Bridge while in the area.

SPECIAL EVENTS AT CHATTAHOOCHEE FISH HATCHERY
June: Seniors Fishing Rodeo -- Adults age 55 and older are invited to the hatchery on the Friday following the first Saturday in June each year to enjoy great trout fishing opportunities, fun games and prizes. Registration begins 9 a.m.
September: Family Fishing Festival. Celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day at the hatchery! Youth ages 16 and under have excellent trout fishing opportunities, along with expert demonstrations, free food, educational exhibits, fun activities and prizes.
