HISTORICAL SITES - RIVERFRONT RENTAL CABIN ELLIJAY GEORGIA MOUNTAINS
| Historical Sites Georgia was an important state in Civil War history. If you are a Civil War History buff, you will want to visit the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park in Fort Oglethorpe. Driver the seven mile loop tour which features commemorative markers and monuments placed by the states after the war. The battleground was the first military park in the United States. It is part of the Blue-Gray Trail, a series of interlinked sites dedicated to commemorating Georgia's Civil War history.

The mound may be seen on the east side of GA Highway 75 just before crossing the Chattahoochee River south of Helen.

Currahee Mountains was made famous by Steven Spielberg in the television series of Band of Brothers. Currahee Mountain was featured during the training of the American Paratroopers at Camp Toccoa, Georgia where they ran up and down the mountain, 3 miles up and 3 miles down.
